In a recent Wall Street Journal article, “Coming Home: Appliance Maker Drops China to Produce in Texas” (call or e-mail us and we’ll be happy to e-mail you a copy), a manufacturer of hair appliances quoted his reasons for moving operations out of China to the U.S. Despite lower cost of production in China, the company owner stated quality control as the primary reason for making the change. He stated that ultimately, “We’ll make more money this way because we’ll have better quality and a better image.” An economist was quoted in the article stating, “I think you’re starting to see more manufacturers rethinking outsourcing.”
Potentially great news for the future of manufacturing in the U.S.
